Pöttinger recently followed up the launch of its Boss 3000 Master loader wagons with the release of six new Boss 3000-series silage trailers equipped with its classic Supermatic tine conveyor loading system. The manufacturer says the new loader wagons will supplant the Euroboss series, from which the Supermatic system originates. The Boss 3000 series is available in high- and low-profile (LP) configurations and in 18.7-, 21.3-, and 23.9-cubic-metre ((660.4-, 752.2-, 844-cubic-foot) load capacities. The high-profile version provides greater ground clearance and a narrower outer width, making it better for narrow tracks, roads, and yards. The LP configuration has a low centre of gravity and wider axles.

    The Supermatic System

Pöttinger says the Supermatic system has low tractor power requirements but delivers maximum forage conservation. The system’s 12-phase Supermatic configuration with three split-tine conveyor bars and two rows of knives can be used with tractors rated for as little as 60 horsepower (44 kilowatts). A 16-phase upgrade with four split-tine conveyor bars and two rows of knives works with tractors that generate up to 110 HP (81 kW). Although the Supermatic doesn’t come equipped with knives as standard, Pöttinger offers options for six, 16, or 31 knives and recommends a Supermatic system with four tine conveyor bars and 31 knives for working with heavy silage.

Boss 3000 forage wagons have a pickup with cam track control and five tine carriers driven by maintenance-free V-belts. The pickup is 1,800 millimetres (71 in.) wide and has 120 mm (4.7 in.) of side-to-side movement at the outermost tine. Pöttinger says a trailing jockey wheel chassis can improve ground tracking when working in especially challenging terrain, as can the Autotast active parallel lift drawbar. The loader wagon is ISOBUS-compatible, but customers can choose from among three additional control systems, including one with load-sensing hydraulics operated from the control terminal.
