Dumper For Sale

Dumpers are deployed to take on many agricultural tasks, from transferring waste materials to hauling equipment. And on the farm you will see two key types of dumpers, which makes it useful to divide this category in half when you begin your search for an appropriate second-hand model. There are dedicated dumpers with front-mounted skips, allowing for autonomous operation in a variety of situations. There are also dump trailers, which can be harnessed to a tractor unit and haul larger loads over longer distances. Which type of dumper you pick will depend on how it is to be used and what other equipment you have to hand to combine with its operational abilities.

A standard dumper with an open skip at the front and operator at the rear will have four wheels and central articulation to ensure that it can perform well on slippery surfaces. The size of the skip and the maximum payload of this kind of dumper will differ from model to model, but vehicles varying from 3 tonnes to 10 tonnes can be found in this category. For anything bigger than this, you will have to consider a dump trailer.

Dump Trailer for farmingA dumper's skip will use hydraulics to allow for a payload to be deposited when it reaches its destination, but you will have to decide whether you want a model that simply unloads straight ahead or one which has a skip that can be swivelled and thus unload itself on either side of the vehicle. The latter orientation is advantageous because it means that the machine can be used in narrow areas, so keep this in mind when looking at second-hand dumpers.

Dump trailers may be used for transporting rubble, earth and other loose materials across the farm, but their versatility does not end here. They may also be suitable for accommodating other pieces of machinery at times when they need to be taken longer distances than they can reasonably cover on their own. And like dumpers, these pieces of equipment run the gamut when it comes to size, weight and payload capacities.

Dumper for agricultural use

Smaller 8 and 10 tonne models are available alongside 14 and even 16 tonne trailers, meaning that buyers can take their pick of the products available second-hand. Hydraulic gates at the rear of these dump trailers add to the convenience of unloading, and there may be ramps included with certain models, so check carefully to see the exact specifications of any units.

Dumpers with front skips and diesel engines should be inspected to ensure that the safety equipment is all intact, with things such as the tyres and hydraulics also worth checking to establish the condition they are in. Things such as paintwork can take a bit of a beating when used for regular agricultural purposes, so if you can see past superficial scuffs and scrapes you can get a good deal. The same goes for dump trailers, as the weight and specifications will need to match with the tractor unit that will be pulling them to avoid disappointment on the part of the buyer.
