John Deere Tractors - Current Range Overview

John Deere categorises their current UK tractor range into three categories, the small, medium and large versions.

Small John Deere Tractors

The current three cylinder 5E Series tractor has power outputs ranging from 55 to 75hp which lends itself to small-scale farming – and even those with large gardens. Starting with the 5050E to the 5067E.

The 5 Series range also has the specialist 5G versions – this range concentrates on the specialist areas of the crop farming industry. With a range of narrow tracks – as skinny as just 1.6m wide for the 5GV – makes the tractors perfect for operations such as the vineyards of the South of England. Need to lose the cab to fit under pergolas? There are options for this too – plus a low cab option that would be well suited on a race track.

John Deere’s 5M Series Tractors are the 5E’s bigger brothers with power outputs from 75hp for the 5075M to 115hp for the 5115M – all from John Deere’s 4.5 litre diesel engine.

Top of the small tractor range is the 5R Series with engine outputs from 90hp to 125hp for the range-topping 5125R. All come with up to eight Powershift gears and 4.3 tonnes payload.

Medium John Deere Tractors

The medium range starts with the 6MC/RC series of tractors. Broadly similar, the RC variants have some additional features, such as PFC hydraulics and CommandQuad Plus transmission. Both available with 95,105 or 115hp from the same four cylinder John Deere 4.5 litre diesel engine.

Introduced in 2012, the John Deere 6M series uses both the 4.5 litre (for the 110 to 145hp versions) and the 6.8 litre six cylinder engine for the 155 to 195hp variants. Regardless of engine option selected, customers will benefit from customisation options including TLS front axle suspension, cab suspension, e-joystick and Integrated AutoTrac.

Pushing the boundries of a ‘medium tractor’ is the 6R range – which is available with a huge range of outputs from just 110hp to a whopping 250hp for the 6250R from the 6.8-litre John Deere diesel. All versions are delivered with a premium cab, including CommandArm John Deere’s CommandCenter display and AutoPowr transmission.

Typical Used John Deere 8360R

Top end tractors from John Deere start at the 7R series with outputs from 230 to 310hp. Moving up the range, the 8 series comes with a tracked option as well with the 8RT range. Standard tractors in the 8R range start at 270hp increasing to a powerful 400hp for the 8400R. For the tracked RT variants power starts at 320hp rising to ‘just’ 370hp.

The 9 Series all use John Deere’s 13.5-litre engine with ratings from 420hp up to 620hp and is available as a 9R series standard tractor with ActiveSeat and HydraCushion suspension system, or as the tracked RT Series, which uses an AirCushion suspension system and finally as a quad track with the RX range using John Deere’s four-post cab suspension system.
