    Claas Forest Harvesters

The Claas range of Claas self-propelled forest harvesters is organised into the Claas Jaguar 980-930 series, with six models and Jaguar 870-840 series machines, of which there are four. There is also a full range of forage harvester attachments on offer in addition to the Claas 'pull-type' forage harvesters range.

Typical Used Self Propelled Forage Harvester

The Claas comfort cab is common to both series and is designed to help operators make full use of the capabilities of the machine. This in turn requires that they have the best working conditions in order to be able to concentrate fully on the job in hand and hence maximise productivity.

Claas has made sure that there is simply nothing in the cab of the Jaguar forage harvester to distract the operator. Even the noise is reduced to an absolute minimum. Both the seat and steering column are fully adjustable to allow every operator to achieve the most comfortable working position. Controls are organised into logical clusters, and everything falls to hand easily, being exactly where it should be. The displays are also clear, conveying the most important information in the shortest possible time. The cab also features air conditioning, a cool box, a radio and roller sun blinds, all designed to keep the operator fresh and productive, even through the most demanding of working days.

The handling of the crop is, of course, the meat and drink of any forage harvester, and the Jaguar models are designed for maximum crop throughput with the lowest possible power consumption. Achieving the optimal flow of crop is the primary factor in maximising daily output. With the Jaguar forage harvester, the crop is allowed to flow in a straight line all the way through the harvester without having to negotiate any difficult bends that may slow its progress or damage the crop. This is the case whether or not you are harvesting grass without using the corn cracker or you are working with maize crops and have the cracker fully engaged.

Either way, the crop is further accelerated at each stage in the process and is also centred by use of the chevron configuration of the knives and the accelerator paddle layout. This is what leads to the best performance using the minimum power, and it also results in an extremely reliable machine. This is amply demonstrated when considering the fuel consumption record of the Jaguar forage harvesters.

The intake system of the Jaguar forage harvesters is designed to be efficient, economical and powerful. It is also adaptable to a wide range of working conditions. The comfort cut drive is integrated with the harvester's main drive train and has the advantage of being able to match changes in the engine and drum speed with changes in the comfort cut drive. This means that a consistent length of chop is achieved at all times. The operator simply sets the desired chop length in the CEBIS system, and the machine does the rest to maintain this length. The operator can also alter the length of the cut from the comfort of the cab at any time during the working day.
