Krone prides itself on telling its customers that “quality forage is at the heart of everything we do.” Early in its history, the company built tillage equipment as well as forage equipment, but by the late ’70s began to focus more tightly on forage harvesting. To that end, the company that Bernhard and Anna Krone established in 1906 manufactures numerous product lines, including mower conditioners, disc mowers, rotary rakes and tedders, forage wagons, round balers, large square balers, forage harvesters, and pellet harvesters.

Krone also manufacturers Xdisc direct headers and EasyCollect maize headers for its BiG X forage harvesters. The BiG X line includes the powerhouse BiG X 1100 with its MAN V12 D2862 engine, offering up to 1,110 HP (816 kilowatts) of continuous engine output and supporting up to 48 blades on Biogas chopping drums. The company’s Swadro family of rotary rakes, meanwhile, includes trailed side- and center-delivery models of single-, twin-, triple-, four-, and six-rotor rakes. Krone’s round balers include the Ultima (the world’s first non-stop baler-wrapper), Bellima, Fortima, Comprima, Comprima X-treme, and CombiPack models, while the large square baler lineup includes numerous BiG Pack models and the BaleCollect machine, which collects and deposits up to three bales at a time for easier retrieval.

Still headquartered in Spelle, Germany, Krone remains a family-owned company more than a century later, with Bernard Krone, the founder’s great-grandson, serving as CEO. Established in 2009, the Leeds-based Krone UK is supported by five territory managers and 80 dealerships. Additionally, Krone Forage Solutions sells and services pre-owned and used forage equipment to farmers and contractors in the UK. Globally, Krone has operations in North America, South America, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Scandinavia, Australia, and Russia.
