Landini Expands Tractor Range with Active Models
A number of new tractors are joining the ranks of the existing machines available from Italian manufacturer Landini, with the Active models focusing on offering an approach to design that focuses on mechanical simplicity rather than boundary-pushing technology.
These tractors will fall in alongside other 6 Series models, sitting just below the Dynamic variants in terms of their capabilities. And of course, a lot of the simplifications mean that each machine is more affordable than its higher-end equivalents.
The smallest of the bunch is the 6-145 Active, which has an engine that develops 143hp. A the top of the range is the 6-175, which as the name suggests has an engine that tops out at 175hp when it hits peak revs.
As standard, each model comes with a hydraulic gear system that can pump 88 litres per minute, although it is possible to specify a higher-powered 123-litre pump if buyers require it.
Other areas in which savings have been made include the suspension, which ditches the independent set-up found on costlier Landini tractors in favour of a more basic set-up. And while this may have a minor impact in terms of comfort, it is unlikely to be a deal breaker for those who are seeking the utmost value for money.
The Specifications
In the cab there are other noticeable absences, including the lack of a console for controlling certain features. Instead, most of these inputs can be found on a panel mounted further away from the operator's seat, which is less convenient but more cost-conscious.
As well as Active models appearing in the 6-series line-up, there are a number of 7-series Landini tractors which also bear this branding to set them apart from the rest of the range.
Regardless of which range is chosen, the same underlying transmission is used, offering a number of speed settings. There are even creep capabilities to ensure that the tractors can keep moving consistently when operating especially slowly, which is entirely essential for some tasks.
Establishing Landini in the UK
Landini is still a farm machinery manufacturer which is looking to establish itself more comprehensively in the UK. And by choosing to make its latest models less complex and thus more affordable than some of its flagship offerings, it could get a firmer foothold in the market over the coming year.
Buying used Landini tractors is an option, with newer models in the 6 and 7-series line-up on offer alongside legacy vehicles such as the Blizzard. The fact that its older tractors can still operate after many hours in the field shows that with the right maintenance they have a lot to offer.
Landini also offers more specialised tractors, with narrow-gauge models allowing for effective manoeuvring and minimal disturbance even in fields where crop rows are particularly closely aligned. So it is a manufacturer which not only manages to cater to the general tractor market but also to make machinery that can meet the niche needs of farmers in specific areas of the industry.
